TATTOO AFTERCARE:

Your new tattoo has been bandaged, and it should be removed after at least four hours and no longer than overnight.  It is very important that your new tattoo be protected from the sun and dirty  environments.  You should wait to remove the bandage until you can properly clean it with anti-bacterial soap (Dial in a pump bottle) and warm water.  Rinse well, pat dry with a clean paper towel and apply ointment.  (Aquaphor or A&D).

You should clean and apply ointment 2-4 times a day for the first 5 days.  DO NOT smother your tattoo in ointment.  Use just enough ointment to make the tattoo slightly shiny, and blot off any excess with a clean paper towel.   You will want to make sure that the tattoo doesn’t stay submerged in water for any extended length of time.  That means DO NOT TAKE LONG BATHS OR GO SWIMMING.  You may shower, we strongly recommend it.

The tattoo will begin to flake and peel like a sunburn, just let this happen on its own.  DO NOT PICK at it.  When the tattoo has entered the peeling phase, you need not apply any further ointment.   The area will become dry and itchy; at this time during the healing process you should begin to apply a good fragrance free hand lotion.  We recommend Lubriderm or Curel lotions.

If scabs develop they may remove the color beneath them.  The scab will eventually fall off on its own, and your tattoo should be fine if you do not scrub or pick at them.  Let them heal naturally.

Your first initial touch up is free within the first 6 months.
